When Does School Start Again Coastal Bend College

General Information

Each twelvemonth, we usually offer four phlebotomy classes with an enrollment of up to 12 students in each course.  In this 12-week program, students volition acquire to draw blood specimens from patients for the purpose of testing and analysis.  The first six weeks consists of evening lectures and labs, during which students will exercise procedures prior to attending clinical grooming.  The 2nd half-dozen weeks, students will nourish a daytime clinical rotation at a local medical facility.  At that place will also be homework assignments delivered online.  Access to a figurer and the Net and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader is essential.  The total course hours are 257.

National Certification

Our program is certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).  Upon successful completion of the Phlebotomy form, students will exist eligible to have the ASCP National Phlebotomy Certification test.  A high school diploma or GED is required. Instructors

Coastal'southward Phlebotomy instructors are certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Prerequisite: Placement Testing

In social club to enroll, students must complete a reading placement test and achieve a qualifying score.  Details are provided in the Continuing Education Schedule of Classes.

Class Size

This is a high demand plan with only 12 seats bachelor in each form.  It is recommended prospective students complete their prerequisite testing and register as early as possible in lodge to ensure a seat in class.

Requirements to Nourish Clinical Practicum

Students will be advised to obtain the beneath three screenings through the Castle Co-operative Company.

Groundwork Bank check

• National Criminal Background Check (if age eighteen or over). Must be washed within xxx days of get-go date or start of school program. County, State and National Sex Offender-Canton, Land and National Role of Inspector General (OIG)

Drug Screen

• Drug Screen (if age 18 or over) Must be washed within xxx days of outset date. A rapid exam will non be accepted.  Must test for: Amphetamine, Meth-amphetamine, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, THC (marijuana), Cocaine, Opiates, methadone, oxycodone, Propoxyphene, phencyclidine (PCP), MDMA (Ecstasy)

Immunizations

• MMR-Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella two doses of MMR or two doses of each individual vaccine on or after start birthday · If there not proof of two immunizations a titer is required for Rubeola, Mumps and Rubella · If results bear witness a negative titer, see provider well-nigh a booster
• Hepatitis B Positive titer: Regardless of proof of vaccination a Titer is required · If Titer does not show immunity begin Hepatitis B series again · A maximum of ii series can be given (6 doses) in a lifetime · Student tin sign a declination if they do not wish to receive vaccination afterwards the titer shows the student is non-immune
• Varicella 2 doses of Varicella at least 28 days apart · If at that place is not proof of 2 Varicella immunizations a titer is required for Varicella · If results show a negative titer, encounter provider nearly a booster
